Following this, responses like \u201cI can speak without worrying about offending them\u201d (40.9%), \u201cI can easily speak my mind\u201d (32.3%), and \u201cI feel secure knowing I won&#8217;t be contradicted\u201d (27.5%) were also prominent. Furthermore, responses to conversations with conversational AI and AI avatars increasingly included perceptions like \u201cI can talk without mental strain\u201d and \u201cit makes me feel more relaxed.\u201d This trend likely stems from the growing emphasis on \u201cmental performance\u201d (menpa), a value system gaining attention in recent years that prioritizes reducing emotional exhaustion and fostering mental stability and breathing room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These results suggest that AI avatars are expected to serve not as entities that give instructions or manage tasks, but as \u201cconversation partners that don&#8217;t burden the mind\u201d\u2014helping users sort through their feelings and consider their next steps at their own pace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AI should not replace people, but rather become a presence that supports an environment where people can challenge themselves more authentically.
